Pastor Sara inspires at Woman Ignite summit

Sara Cowan Conner, affectionately known as Pastor Sara, has a steadfast commitment to giving back to Jamaica, which stems from her challenging upbringing.

Growing up as the spirited first child of Bob Marley’s road manager, Tommy Cowan, in a strict Rastafarian household, she faced numerous adversities, including her mother’s struggles with addiction, surviving sexual assault, and later grappling with divorce.

Despite these trials, Pastor Sara refused to succumb to despair. She embarked on a journey of personal rebranding, demonstrating resilience and determination.

Today, she is a beacon of hope, showcasing the transformative power of faith and perseverance.

Reflecting on her circumstances, Pastor Sara could have returned to Jamaica, but she pushed through after the divorce. As she told the
Jamaica Observer: “One of the things I had to face was staying in my city. I’m very tied to my community. If I ran and kept running I would be doing a disservice to myself and everything I had built.”

She expanded her horizons, engaging in activities like executive coaching, and one of her students is currently running for mayor.

Pastor Sara also sells digital products through her website,
IAmSarah.co. She remarked: “Last year, I did a lot of coaching, which helped me disciple others, including executive coaching. I’ve had about 100 people go through my courses. I’ve just started offering digital product services and made millions of Jamaican dollars. That is your profitable space when you are in your sweet spot.”

With her newfound success, Pastor Sara can devote more of her time to helping others. She travels to Jamaica at least once a month. She emphasized the importance of recognising one’s assets, stating, “I have four income streams. If you do not take inventory of what you have, you will see what you’ve lost.”

Although she is not there yet, she aspires to live off 10 per cent of her income and dreams of opening a gap school to help children get back on track.

Pastor Sara shared her story at the recent Woman Ignite Success Summit (WISS). She inspired and empowered women to overcome challenges and embrace their potential for growth and renewal. Her resilience is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for transformation.

At WISS, Pastor Sara’s message of hope and empowerment undoubtedly resonated with attendees, encouraging them to embark on their journeys of self-discovery and empowerment.

The WISS emerged as a dynamic two-day gathering, uniting over 100 women from the region for fellowship and empowerment. It provided a platform where women could share experiences and skills. The summit showcased diverse talents, featuring presentations from Christian ministers, educators, executives, business leaders, and trailblazers who had shattered glass ceilings.
