Irwin High continues good run in D’Cup

IRWIN, St James – Irwin High continued their historic run in the ISSA daCosta Cup Zone A after winning a third straight game, beating Anchovy High 5-0 and taking over the lead in the points table.

It was the first time the Norman Foster-coached team was winning their first three games, as well as leading the competitive Zone A and to put icing on the cake, they are yet to concede a goal while scoring eight times.

Roxroy Ramsey led the way with a double and there were goals from Leo Campbell, Fabian Grey and Abraham Quest.

Irwin High leads with nine points, three more than Cornwall College and Green Pond High.

Meanwhile, former champions Dinthill Technical won their fifth straight game, edging McGrath High 2-1 to stay on top in Zone K and join Paul Bogle High with five wins.

Giovanni Afflick scored a second half double to lead Dinthill Technical to their fifth victory as the two-time champions maintained their lead in Zone K.

Afflick took over the lead in the goal-scoring race as he is now on nine for the season, one more than Jhamaleek Porter of Manning’s School.

Charlemont High took over sole possession of second place after blanking Guys High 3-0 while Ewarton High and Enid Bennett played out a 2-2 draw.
