VW celebrates Amarok on Jamrock
The local Volkswagen Amarok community were feted by Volkswagen Jamaica, the arm of the ATL Automotive Group responsible for the Volkswagen line of vehicles, at the Tru-Juice Orchards, St Catherine, on Sunday, June 25.
“I’m super grateful and appreciative of the efforts of my team. Without them VW Jamaica couldn’t have showcased the Amarok in its best state to over the 70 patrons that made the event,” Jhanelle Wagstaffe, senior sales manager, VW Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.
Wagstaffe went on to further explain the necessity for the Amarok Off-The-Track Event.
“We’ve had the Amarok around now for more than a decade and we’ve never given back and appreciated in the way that we have done today. So we decided to have an event where they can come out and see what the Amarok can do, come vibe with us, come chill with us, and experience the different capabilities of the pickup, and maybe talk about trading in your old Amarok for a new one,” said Wagstaffe.
The VW Jamaica team took over the rustic setting that is the Tru-Juice Orchards, giving invited guests plenty of options – from a cool dip into the nearby river, to food, drink, board games, and the ability to hit the multitude of trails either by foot or Amarok. The latter was by far the most popular, as attendees were shuttled deep into the property, via Amarok, for an exciting drive through a pre-set off-road course. Those brave enough were encouraged to follow along with their own pickup testing their skills and exercising a side of their vehicle they may have rarely been able to. Owners looking to upgrade had both OEM and after-market accessories on hand to browse. There were other VW automotive products for those interested in moving further into the brand.
“The Amarok is extremely important to us because it has come with a very strong brand, strong backbone, as the only pickup in the Volkswagen line. We want people to experience the comfort and durability of German engineering and the Amarok brings that to the table.
Wagstaffe was not able to say when the new VW Amarok will be available.
“We’re working very hard to bring it into the island. We don’t have a definitive time as yet, but I’m hoping by next year we should some more information to when we can get it in because it’s a beautiful pickup and we really want to be able to offer it to customers, especially those who have been loyal to use over the years.”
Given the positive response to the Amarok Off-The-Track Event Wagstaffe hopes to host another such event in the future, even with other VW products.
