Sports minister congratulates ‘Bunny’ Shaw on WSL Player of the Season award
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange says Jamaica has even more reason to be proud of Reggae Girl, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw now that she has been named the Barclay’s Women’s Super League Player of the Year.
In a statement on Sunday, Grange said “Bunny, playing for Manchester City, excelled in front of goal giving her club a real chance of winning the league and making herself the choice for Barclay’s Women’s Super League Player of the Season.”
She continued, “It is still fresh in our memory that Bunny was named the 2024 Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year.”
“Almost with every touch of the ball Bunny gives us more to cheer about whether she is playing for Jamaica or for her club.”
On Friday, Shaw, who plays for Manchester City, was named the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season.

The 27-year-old striker has been instrumental in City’s push for the title, leading the league with 21 goals in 18 games this season – incredibly averaging a goal every 66 minutes.
City are second in the league standing with a one game left to play, trailing Chelsea on goal difference.
However, Shaw was ruled out for the rest of the season in April after suffering a broken foot.
The Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season award is the latest for Shaw, having been recently named the 2024 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Women’s Footballer of the Year.
