Schoolboy fatally stabbed in Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 17-year-old schoolboy is in police custody after he reportedly stabbed to death another student during a dispute near Holmwood Technical High in north east Manchester on Monday.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Police said about 2:15 pm the boys were at a football match when a dispute erupted and the 15-year-old was stabbed to death.

Police said the 17-year-old claims that he was attacked by three boys, one of whom hit him in his face with a piece of board.

A ratchet knife was reportedly used by the teen to inflict stab wounds on the 15-year-old boy.

The injured teen was taken to hospital and later succumbed.

Principal at Holmwood Technical Hidran McKulsky condemned the incident.

“An altercation reportedly developed between two students of Knox Community College who were attending the match as patrons. During the incident, one student was stabbed and subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital,” he said in a statement.

“This is a deeply distressing occurrence, and we extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends and the wider Knox Community College community,” he added.
