Business Social – October 15

The JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation recently affirmed its support of the Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition, during a launch event held at the Mona campus.

The competition, which started back in November 2002, was designed to encourage students of the university to use their talents and skills to harness ideas and opportunities that can be grown into full-fledged operating businesses.

At the launch event hosted by the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM), this year’s cohort of budding entrepreneurs were welcomed by the philanthropic arm of the powerful JMMB Group, which also used the opportunity to present a cheque valued at $1 million as a symbol of its commitment to the growth of entrepreneurship locally. With its contribution, the group joins other corporate sponsors of this year’s competition which includes: the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ), Baymac, National Commercial Bank (NCB) and RevUp Caribbean.

Business Social provides a recap.
