Flow introduces eSIM service to Jamaica

FLOW has introduced one of the latest in innovative mobile technology with the launch of its eSIM service.

An eSIM works like a conventional SIM chip but is integrated in the phone from the manufacturer. It is being heralded as the future of mobile technology as it offers customers greater usability and flexibility, as well as safety and sustainability features.

eSIM-capable devices provide great convenience in having two Flow numbers on one phone (business & personal/prepaid or postpaid), the ability to have two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone and the option to have a second number from the Flow network if customers are with another local or international service provider.

Flow launched its eSIM service on Friday, August 26 and the company said that its aim is to keep its customers on the cusp of mobile innovation.

“We are happy to offer our customers eSIM services which is a first for Jamaica,” said Commercial Director — Mobile Dwight Williams.

“The eSIM offers great flexibility and convenience of having two local phone numbers on one device as well as activating a Flow mobile number while roaming in Jamaica. It is also a simpler set up. Customers just need to scan the QR code and activate their plan without having the risk of losing their SIM or the SIM tools.”

This new technology is accessible via compatible iPhone and Samsung smartphones.

eSIM became available on iPhone devices on August 26 while the service will be available on Samsung devices in the next three weeks.

Flow added that as the technology matures more devices will offer eSIM capabilities, giving customers more options on how they subscribe to Flow’s market-leading mobile plans.

Williams pointed out that the compatibility of the eSIM with the physical SIM allows customers to comfortably adjust to the technology while having access to the benefits of eSIM when needed.

“Flow will continue to offer regular SIM cards for customers who do not have eSIM-enabled devices but as we evolve with technology, we are ensuring that our customers can access the latest and best services to meet their growing needs,” Williams noted.

Other features include switching one’s phone number from a SIM to an eSIM, swapping eSIMs between compatible devices and shutting down the eSIM if your mobile device is lost or stolen.

eSIM became available on iPhone devices on August 26 while the service will be available on Samsung devices in the next three weeks. .
