Modern living at its finest

Modern, contemporary, clean lines are the words heard most frequently when clients request décor services from leading home furnishing retailer Spaces Limited. And naturally so; just spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon visiting the newest additions to the Kingston Metropolitan skyline and you will see that clean and modern are the new standards in architecture and interior design.

But what do these words mean? And how does one achieve this new design aesthetic? Luckily for you, Spaces has long championed a simple, refined appeal and will provide a visual guideline for how to achieve today’s most sought-after look.

Join the Spaces team on Saturday, September 28, 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm at their pop-up shop

Layer and vary the types of lighting used in your space. Ensure that you incorporate not only tasklighting such as recessed lights and ceiling lights but also decorative lighting from table lamps. Lightingfixtures, including ceiling fans and chandeliers, can create a huge visual impact.
In many newer residences the kitchen is the heart of the home and, as such, it is a space that shouldn’t be neglected. Choosing the right coordinating backsplash, countertopsand cabinets can be overwhelming, but achieving the “right” combination can set the tone for the open living concept. In this home we installed classic subway tiles in aherringbone pattern for their simplicity.
No matter the pressures of the day there is no greater satisfaction than coming home to a dwelling whose clean and uncluttered style drains away the stresses of the chaotic day.
Accessories are to homedécor what jewellery is tofashion. The perfect rug, wall art and decorativeelements can take yourspace from ordinary toextraordinary! In an openconcept rugs are especiallykey in helping to define anddelineate a space.
With open-floor plans that incorporate kitchen, living and dining rooms it’s important to have acohesive look tying all areas together. Shades of grey accented with blue create a harmonious andrefreshing open space.
