Beach Rhumba, a hit in Portland
Event promoter Hannif Frank is in high spirits following the success of Beach Rhumba, which was held on Sunday, May 22 at the Shanshy Beach Complex in Bryan’s Bay, Port Antonio.
“This was the first staging of the event and it was very well supported. We had more than 2,000 patrons who, from the looks of things, enjoyed themselves. So, we are very happy about that,” Frank disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
Beach Rhumba featured performances from red hot Jahshii, Moyann and D’Angel. Up-and-coming acts, including Fyah Doops, Lavish Bigga, Kanyve and Wata Boss were also a part of the performance lineup.
“I think the highlight of the even for me was the performance between Jahshii and Moyann. They performed their hit song How We a Live and the crowd gave them a really good reception,” said Frank.
He added, “The patrons were very receptive towards all of the artistes that performed. Excited patrons even tried hard to approach the stage area.”
Frank has been doing event promotion since 2005. Originally from Portland, he relocated to the United States a few years ago.
“I was born in Portland and I wanted an event to help to uplift the parish. This is my way of paying my respects and homage to the parish of my birth,” said Frank.
Frank’s next event is Beach Euphoria which is scheduled for July 24 at Boston Beach in Portland. Yanique Curvy Diva, Brysco, Shaneil Muir, Twinkle Brain and Intence are among those billed to perform.
