CHRONIXX stamped his authority on the second leg of his Chronixx Live tour at Pier One in Montego Bay, last Saturday. The first leg was held at Mas Camp in St Andrew the evening before.

The reggae singer demonstrated a performance that has clearly matured and empowered by his experience from an extensive tour schedule. Backed by the Zinc Fence Band, he showed why he is in such high demand and being hailed leader of the current pack of reggae superstars.

In a set that lasted for two-and-a-half hours, Chronixx’s flow was only halted by the intervention of the police who gave instructions that the plug be pulled. This was unknown by the fans who were clearly satisfied.

From his entry on stage at 12:40 am which was heralded by chanting and Nyahbinghi drumming, the musical maestro held a packed venue transfixed to his every word, dance moves and smiles. The hits flowed as easily as his interaction with the audience, eliciting wild cheers for favourites such as Perfect Tree, Take You Somewhere, and, of course, the massive hit Likes, which he used to close his marathon set.

Chronixx was joined on stage by Protoje, whom he credited with assisting in choosing the first seven songs he released. He was also joined by Iba Mahr for a cameo performance and by his father Chronicle, whom he paid tribute to after their stint together.

Earlier in the evening, Protoje delivered a more than hour-long performance, holding the Pier One audience with hits such as Stylin and Blood Money. He was joined by Mortimer, Sevanna and Lila Ike and a cameo from Agent Sasco sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Upcoming artiste Eesah opened the night’s proceedings and gave a good account of himself. ZJ Sparks proved to be an excellent choice in-between band changes and kept the audience engaged with hit songs and witty commentary.
