DiCelebrityy’s second Sumfest coming
Since migrating to the United States seven years ago, DiCelebrityy has feverishly worked New York City’s dancehall beat. On July 22, he gets a second crack on Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.
The deejay appears on a night of heavy-hitters. Aidonia, Alkaline, Govana, Intense, Spice, and Shenseea are some of the marquee acts slated to perform.
Interestingly, DiCelebrityy’s (aka The Pyyros) previous performance in Jamaica was the 2019 edition of Sumfest. Because of COVID-19, that was the last time the event was held before a live audience.
He sees working the Sumfest stage as beneficial in several ways.
“Reggae Sumfest is the opportunity that I can use to increase my fan base, showcase my new projects like my upcoming album VIP Room, increase bookings and streamings. Also widen my brand ThePyyros and so much more,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
DiCelebrityy goes into the July 17-23 show with a batch of new songs, including Rain Drops, New Landlord and Mysterious featuring Rytikal.
Born in St Ann and raised in St Mary, he has been recording since 2012. Three years later, DiCelebrityy moved to the Big Apple where he has maintained a steady recording itinerary, which includes songs with Spice and Sikka Rhymes (Bounce The Remix) and Skillibeng (VIP).
DiCelebrityy knows the importance of striking the right chord at Jamaica’s biggest reggae show.
“Reggae Sumfest is one of the biggest reggae festivals around the world. Being a part of Reggae Sumfest is a major honour. When I first started making music, all I ever dreamed of was performing my songs and ‘vibing’ with the crowd on a big platform,” he said.
“For me to get the chance to perform in Jamaica on Reggae Sumfest, to entertain and bring good vibes to the crowd with my music in my home country with my people for a second time is a blessing that I am grateful for.”
