Footloose pulls big crowd
SABINA Park on South Camp Road in St Andrew was the ideal location for last Saturday’s staging of Footloose.
The retro-party series, promoted by Broadway Productions, drew a massive crowd which included young professionals and the young at heart.
At minutes to 10:00 pm not many persons were inside the venue but as the clock ticked away, the faithful partygoers came out in their numbers, anticipating a great evening.
It has been two years since the last staging of Footloose, however, by all accounts, it lived up to its billing.
“The venue was ideal for the turnout. We needed a larger venue to facilitate the crowd that we anticipated,” said Tyrone Dixon, spokesperson for Broadway Productions.
Now on its 16th year, Footloose has consistently delivered to its loyal following — and Saturday night’s serving, dubbed the Short Shorts Edition, was no exception.
With DJ Rush and DJ Arif Cooper, two seasoned turntable mix masters at the controls, patrons were taken on a nostalgic journey to relive some of the biggest hits of yesteryear.
“Saturday’s event was a whole vibe. We promised a big vibe and, thanks to our patrons, it was bigger than we even expected. The party started on a high and remained on a high for the entire night,” Dixon disclosed.
He said he was surprised at the turnout.
“ Yes, I was surprised, but pleasantly surprised. I know we have our Footloose family but now we have an extended family, and we embrace them. We are here for it and we will continue to deliver for our family,” said Dixon.
The next Footloose is scheduled for August 27 at a venue to be be announced.
