LET Them Say, British singer Bitty McLean’s cover of the 1968 Bob Andy classic, was released Monday by VP Records. October 31 would have been the reggae legend’s 78th birthday.

It is the first cut from We Remember Bob Andy, a tribute album to the singer-songwriter who died in March 2020.

The set is scheduled for release in February, celebrated in Jamaica as Reggae Month.

We Remember Bob Andy is produced by Dean Fraser. It has 15 Andy originals covered by reggae’s top acts including Beres Hammond, Tarrus Riley, Luciano, Romain Virgo, and Nadine Sutherland.

Produced by Clement Dodd for his Studio One label, Let Them Say captures Bob Andy at his peak as a singer-songwriter. He was in his element at Dodd’s stable where his hits also included I’ve Got To Go Back Home, Too Experienced, and Unchained.

Those songs are from Songbook, a collection of Bob Andy’s Studio One singles, considered one of the great reggae albums.

Bob Andy was born Keith Anderson in Kingston. He also made several classic songs as a duo with Marcia Griffiths including Really Together, and Young, Gifted And Black.

McLean, a former engineer with UB40, was born in the United Kingdom to Jamaican parents. He is best known for his covers of David Ruffin’s Walk Away From Love, and Bread’s Make it With You and The Real Thing.
