Spice on the mend
SPICE is responsive, according to sources close to the dancehall deejay’s camp.
This is after news surfaced days ago that the dancehall deejay was in critical condition after going under the knife in Dominican Republic.
“The last time I spoke to a member of the family on Friday, everyone sounded positive, no one sounded nervous or worried. They said she has been up and awake. They said that she was getting stronger each day, the family is asking for prayers at this time,” the source, who asked not to be named, told the Jamaica Observer.
The source was unwilling to say what was the nature of Spice’s visit to the Dominican Republic and when she arrived in the island.
As Spice’s medical situation reportedly improved overnight, friends and family have been rallying to her side or posting encouraging messages on Instagram.
“I am just glad that she is doing better. I spoke to her sister in New York and she told me that she spoke to Spice, and that she was having complications but doing much better, but she is not out of the woods yet,” said another source.
Spice’s former spiritual adviser and friend RT Boss landed in the Dominican Republic on Saturday but said he has not reached the medical facility where the dancehall deejay is recovering.
Social media light up recently stating that the dancehall artiste was in a coma following a botched cosmetic surgery. Her booking agent Ray Alexander has, however, denied those claims.
Spice — given name Grace Hamilton — first came to prominence with the 2009 single Romping Shop, alongside Vybz Kartel. In recent years, she has taken her brand outside dancehall boundaries by co-starring in the VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
