20 dancers to compete for global Dancehall Queen title
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Over 20 dancers from across the globe will vie for the coveted International Dancehall Queen title on Saturday, July 29, being staged by Big Head Promotion at Pier One in Montego Bay, St James.
Originating in the late 1990s, the International Dancehall Queen competition has evolved into a worldwide calendar event, celebrating the skills, creativity, and charisma of female dancers in the dancehall community.
“We are thrilled to announce the 2023 International Dancehall Queen competition. This event has become an incredible platform for dancers to express themselves, showcasing their exceptional talent and passion for dancehall. It’s an electrifying celebration of our rich cultural heritage and the universal language of dance,” said Brian Martin, founder of the International Dancehall Queen competition.
Previous winners and notable dancehall reggae artistes have played a vital role in spreading this cultural phenomenon to countries such as Ethiopia, Switzerland, Amsterdam, and Poland, among others.
The 2023 edition of the International Dancehall Queen competition promises to be a spectacle like no other, featuring mesmerising performances, jaw-dropping choreography, and the explosive energy that dancehall is known for.
