Bog Walk Gorge closed

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine is now closed due to rising water levels.

The rising water levels are due to the effects of Hurricane Ian, which the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service) has indicated is expected to move north – northwest across the north-western Caribbean today.

A flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas in St Catherine, Clarendon, St Thomas, Portland, Kingston & St Andrew and St Mary is in effect.

The flash flood warning will remain in effect until 5 am on Tuesday.

Persons are also urged to avoid flooded waterways such as fords, gullies, streams and rivers.
