Cops probe break-in at Spanish Town Post Office
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Thieves broke into the Spanish Town Post Office in St Catherine over the holiday weekend, but up to late Tuesday afternoon, it was not ascertained if anything was stolen.
The police were called to the location Tuesday morning by the manager of the post office after workers turned up and realised something was amiss.
Information reaching Observer Online is that the break-in occurred between 5:05 pm last Friday, October 13, 2023 and 6:50 pm on Tuesday.
Reports indicated that the post office staff securely locked up the building around 5:05 pm last Friday, October 13, 2023, and left for the weekend.
Upon opening the building around 6:50 am Tuesday, employees saw the office ransacked and summoned the police. Lawmen observed that the hinge to a door to the rear section of the post office was broken off, giving entry to the building.
After dialogue with personnel from the security company contracted to secure the building, it was discovered that the alarm system was not armed over the weekend.
