Hundreds of pounds of cooked pasta mysteriously dumped in New Jersey woods
NEW JERSEY, USA — Residents of Old Bridge, New Jersey were left confused following the discovery of hundreds of pounds of cooked pasta near a river basin in the area.
According to an article from CBS News, the pasta was dumped sometime last month. Their origins remain a mystery.
Nina Jochnowitz, who is running for city council in the town, posted images of the piles of pasta in a Facebook group, according to the article. The pictures, which garnered tremendous attention, sparked a massive clean-up of what was estimated to be a 500-pound pasta mess.
“The township heard or read the comments and responded by doing a rapid cleanup of the river basin and pasta dump. As my friend called it a ‘Mission Impasteable!!!’ “Jochnowitz wrote on Facebook. “They also cleaned out all the garbage tossed in the basin. Thank you Kasey and the entire crew of Public Works!”
There were fears that the PH level of the pasta would impact the town’s water stream.
“That water stream is important to clean up because it feeds into the town’s water supply. … It was one of the fastest cleanups I’ve ever seen here,” Jochnowitz said.
