Jamaica ends PanAm U20 with relay silver medals
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica ended the 21st Pan-American Under-20 track and field championships at Estadio José Antonio Figueroa, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on Sunday with two silver medals in the 4x400m relays in the afternoon session.
Both mile relay teams finished behind the USA team and ahead of the Brazil team with the men clocking 3:09.17 seconds with the team of Enrique Webster, Delano Kennedy, Tarique Dacres and Jaheen Bell.
The Americans won with 3:05.98 seconds and Brazil took the bronze medal with 3:09.57 seconds.
The women’s team of Shanique Williams, Dockery, Tonyan Beckford and Dejanae Oakley ran 3:38.56 seconds, the USA won with 3:30.25 seconds and Brazil ran 3:38.87 seconds.
Royan Walters was fourth in the men’s triple jump with a best mark of 15.11m (1.4m/s) after fouling his first two attempts.
Kitania Headley finished fifth in the women’s 800m after she ran 2:11.99 seconds while Lavanya Williams placed seventh in the women’s 200 in 24.74 seconds (1.6m/s).
Jamaica ended the three-day championships with 13 medals, one gold coming from Alana Reid in the women’s 100m, eight silver and four bronze medals.
