Jamaica’s Jordanne Levy makes Top 20 at Miss Universe finals
Jamaica earned its 10th placement in the Top 20 at the Miss Universe grand coronation pageant, with Dr Jordanne Lauren Levy making the first cut.
Levy, who also competed in the swimsuit competition, says she is proud of her achievement.
“I feel immensely proud to be able to represent my country. I stand tall in everything that I believe in, my experiences that gave me the position to be in the Top 20. I am proud of all the work that I put in to reach where I did,” Levy shared in an interview with Observer Online on Saturday night, shortly after the grand coronation had come to an end.
Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacois was named the 2023 Miss Universe winner, while Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild and Australia’s Morayah Wilson finished second and third respectively.
The grand coronation of the 72nd Miss Universe pageant was held at the Jose’ Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Grammy-award winning American R&B singer John Legend performed during the coronation.
Jamaica has made the Top 10 at the Miss Universe finals on eight occasions.
The country’s highest position in the competition came in 2010 when Yendi Phillips finished in second place behind Mexico’s Ximena Navarrete.
