Kadrian Goldson wins FISU 100m gold

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson won the men’s 100m gold medal at the FISU World University Game at the Shuangliu Sports Centre, Chengdu in China on Wednesday morning.

He won in 10.04 seconds.

Goldson of GC Foster Sports College got off to a fast start but was overtaken by South Africa’s Phatutshedzo Shaun Maswanganyi before coming back late in the race to snatch the win.

Maswanganyi, who competed for the University of Houston in the NCAA season, took the silver with 10.06 seconds while China’s Guanfeng Chen was third with 10.17 seconds.

Goldson had won his semi-final race also in 10.04 seconds after running 10.48 seconds in the first round.

Mickaell Moodie failed to get past the semi-finals of the women’s 100m where she ran 11.58 seconds for third in her race after running 11.52 seconds in the first round.
