Lawrence breaks discus record at Velocity Fest II
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympic finalist, Shadae Lawrence, broke her own meet record in the discus throw when she won the event at Saturday’s Velocity Fest II at the National Stadium with 62.36 metres.
Lawrence beat the previous best of 62.19 m and had two more throws over 61.00 m.
Samantha Hall was second with 54.68m with Shamella Donaldson third in a season’s best 50.65 m.
O’Dayne Richards won the men’s shot put with 19.03m, beating Calabar’s CARIFTA champion Kobe Lawrence in 17.32m with Brandon Gayle third with 16.26m.
Grenadian Emanuel Archibald won the men’s triple jump with a best mark of 7.59m (-0.5m/s), beating Adrian Riley at 7.55m (-0.8m/s) and Shawn Thompson at 7.39 (-0.8m/s).
