Lenky’s son Q performs at BET Soul Train Awards
There was a Jamaican presence on stage at Saturday night’s broadcast of the BET Soul Train Music Awards.
Q Marsden, the son of prolific music producer Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden performed on the Verizon Amplified Stage during the broadcast.
The show was pre-taped on November 13 at the New Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a post on his Instagram page, Q wrote “My first Soul Train awards. So grateful for the opportunity. Thank you @soultrain.”
Dressed in a grey sweater with black dress pants, the 23-year-old R&B singer performed his latest single ‘Today’, which was released November 3 via Columbia Records.
Q whose real name is Q Steven Marsden is based in Broward County, Florida. His father is best known for his production of the Diwali rhythm which was released 20 years ago.
Diwali scored multiple crossover hits including Brick and Lace’s ‘Love is Wicked’ and Sean Paul’s ‘Get Busy’, and it was also sampled in Rihanna’s 2005 debut hit ‘Pon De Replay’, among others.
Q made a name for himself in 2020 with the popular single ‘Take Me Where Your Heart Is’ from his album The Shave Experiment.
