Man in custody after police seize firearm, ammunition in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— A man was arrested in connection with the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition by lawmen during a patrol at Cornwall Mountain in Westmoreland on Saturday, May 28.
Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that about 9:15 pm, a team of officers was on patrol in the area, when they observed a group of men standing at a bar. On approach of the police, one of the men ran. The police made enquiries and a man was seen removing an object from his waistband. He was accosted, the object retrieved, and found to be a Beretta 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition.
The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending further investigations.
