Maroons seek third straight win in Tier II Football competition
CLARENDON, Jamaica— Leaders Chapleton Maroons will be going after a third straight win Saturday when they take on Lime Hall Academy in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Tier Two competition at Turners Field in Chapleton, Clarendon.
Chapleton Maroons won their first two games to be on maximum six points, two more than St James clubs Faulkland FC and Wadada United FC, with five clubs on three points.
The Clarendon team has scored seven goals in their two games played so far and will face a Lime Hall Academy team that has managed just two goals, one of which was an own goal scored by Faulkland in their 4-1 loss on Thursday.
Meanwhile, second placed Faulkland FC will face Hopewell United in a western derby at Wespow Park, Wadada United will be away to Treasure Beach FC at Breds; Portlanders FC and Tru Juice will meet at Lynch Park; Baptist Alliance meets Downs YC at York Sports Complex and Falmouth United plays away to Albion Mountain at Westmoreland Oval.
Maroons are expected to extend their winning run against a Lime Hall Academy team that have shown very little so far and could have problems stopping the likes of Kaheim Dixon, Christopher Hull, and Javel Ellis.
Faulkland FC will be seeking back-to-back victories against a Hopewell United team that were beaten 4-1 at home by Treasure Beach on Wednesday and will need to turn their form around if they are to get anything from the game today.
Faulkland FC had drawn with Falmouth in their first game but ran rough shod over Lime Hall on Thursday and will be going into the game today full of confidence.
The youthful Wadadah United team will have their hands full against a Treasure Beach team that would have seen their confidence restored with their win against Hopewell after being beaten in their first game against Chapleton.
Kadeen Stone scored two goals in the first half against Hopewell and will be gunning for more but will find the Wadada United team more organised than their most recent opponents.
Wadadah FC has managed just two goals in two games and could be forced to step up their offensive game today against the St Elizabeth team.
Portlanders FC and Tru Juice are both coming off wins after losing their opening games and both will hope to extend their winning form.
Portlanders came back twice against Albion Mountain before scoring twice in the last five minutes of regulation and extra time and will hope home field advantage will work in their favour today.
True Juice were unlucky in their opening loss at Hopewell United but rebounded to beat Baptist Alliance on Wednesday.
