Dancehall artiste Masicka’s album ‘Generation of Kings’ now occupies the number one and number two spots on the Reggae iTunes Chart just hours after its release on Friday.

With both versions of the album occupying the top slots, Bob Marley and The Wailers album ‘Legend’ was pushed to number three on the chart.

‘Generation of Kings’ was released through the US record label Def Jams Recordings, and features artistes such as Popcaan, Dexta Daps, Spice, Chronic Law and Lila Iké.

A release from Masicka’s team stated that the expectation of the album is to find new markets for the Jamaican deejay.

“Expanding the fan base and tapping into new markets is the aim for us, numbers will happen eventually,” his team said.

To fulfil this, Masicka, given name Javaun Fearon, also featured Afrobeats singer Fave and Haitian-American singer Fridayy on the tracks ‘Fight For Us’ and ‘Wet’.

Producers on the album include Masicka as well as, Boi-1da, Atto Wallance, Moz ‘Mozeeko’ Hamm, and Donald ‘Razzy’ Chen, Mario ‘Dunw3ll’.

Masicka’s previous joint efforts with Popcaan include ‘Pain’ from his debut album ‘438’ and ‘UNDA DIRT’ from Popcaan’s ‘FIXTAPE’. He also did ‘Vanish’ and ‘Leader’ with Dexta Daps on ‘438’.

‘438’ was the fifth most streamed album on Spotify in Jamaica this year according to data obtained from Spotify. The album was the only project by a Jamaican to make the top 10 list.

To celebrate the album’s release, Masicka will be performing in New York’s Amazura nightclub on Saturday, December 2 and in Jamaica at the Grizzly’s Plantation Cove on December 16.
