#NationalTrials: Oakley, Beckford to clash in Under-20 girls’ 400m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dejanea Oakley of the University of Texas and Edwin Allen High’s Tonyan Beckford will lead the eight competitors into Sunday’s final of the Under-20 girls’ 400m.
Oakley cruised to a comfortable victory in a time of 53.51. She crossed the line ahead of Leanna Lewis of Edwin Allen High (55.18) and Shanque Williams (55.30) of St Elizabeth Technical High.
Beckford will look to add to her 400m hurdles title after winning semi final two in 54.94.
She was followed by Kitania Headley of St Catherine High (56.31) and Oneika Brissett of William Knibb Memorial (56.82).
Moya Mitchell of Vere Technical High (57.39) and Sherika Thomas of Glengoffe High (57.76) have also punched their tickets to the final of the event.
The eight runners will face the starter for the gold medal race on Sunday at 5:23 pm.
