Reggae Boyz beat TTO 4-1 in Gold Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz all but booked a place in the second round of the Concacaf Gold Cup after beating Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 in their Zone A game played at City Park in St Louis, Missouri on Wednesday.
It was the first win for head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson since he took over the team last year as they improved to four points after drawing 1-1 with the USA in their opening game on Saturday.
Jamaica led 3-0 at halftime thanks to a first half brace from Demarai Gray, who was celebrating his 27th birthday. Teenager Dujuan Richards also got his first international goal when he scored in time added after coming on in place of fellow Phoenix Academy alum Leon Bailey, who had also scored in the first half.
Andre Rampersad had pulled a goal back for Trinidad and Tobago when he scored in the 49th minute as Jamaica extended its run of games to 18 since their last shut-out.
Jamaica led Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 at halftime.
Gray had scored in the 14th and 30th minutes and Bailey in the 17th minute for Jamaica.
