Cop, businessman slapped with kidnapping and robbery charges
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — Two men, including a policeman, are now facing several charges including kidnapping, robbery with aggravation and breaches of the Corruption Act after allegedly robbing a man of more than $2 million before forcibly taking him with them.
According to police reports, 35-year-old Raniel McGregor, a policeman assigned to the St Thomas Division and 42-year-old Lannie Pearcy, a businessman of Dalvey, St Thomas, identified themselves as police and entered the victim’s premises in Golden Grove Meadows in the parish.
It is alleged that the accused men robbed the complainant of $2,150,000 before forcibly kidnapping him. He was later released and a report made to the police.
An investigation commenced and McGregor and Pearcy were subsequently arrested and charged.
A court date for them is being finalised.
