St Catherine South police seize firearm, man in custody

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— A team of officers assigned to the St Catherine South Police seized a firearm and 16 rounds of ammunition during a joint police/military operation on Browns Lane, Central Village on Friday, May 13. One man was arrested in relation to the seizure.

Reports from the Central Village Police are that about 9:35 pm, lawmen were in the area when they saw a group of men whose actions aroused their suspicions. On seeing the police team the men ran. They were pursued, however, some of the men managed to escape and only one was caught. He was searched and a Taurus G3 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 16 rounds of ammunition found in his possession.

He was taken into custody but his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
