Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Senator Peter Bunting, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as “tragic and senseless”.
Senator Bunting went on to extend heartfelt condolences to Dr Williams’ family, friends, and colleagues, while emphasising the tremendous loss to our nation, the medical profession, and the JDF.
He lamented that the incident highlights the perilous environment faced by security forces and the daily sacrifices they make.
“Jamaicans deserve safety and protection. We must not allow criminals to continue to wreak havoc and instil fear. Immediate and decisive action by the government is crucial to address rising crime, which threatens lives and well-being,” Bunting stated.
The Opposition spokesperson urged the relevant authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice and send a clear message against such violence.
