UPDATE: Scotiabank redirects Port Antonio customers
PORTLAND, Jamaica — Scotiabank has redirected customers in Port Antonio, Portland, to the ABMs at Braham’s Gas Station at 15 Harbour Street in the town, or any other ABM on the multilink network for cash services as investigations continue at the capital’s branch where an explosion occurred early Saturday.
Confirming that the incident caused damage to the building and the ABMs, the bank said it will begin restoring services as soon it has clearance to do so.
The matter is currently being investigated by the police and fire departments.
Up to late afternoon, the police said no suspect had been arrested but said they were following strong leads.
Superintendent of Police in charge of the Portland Division, Kenneth Chin, noted that a person of interest is being investigated in the incident which left one man injured.
Chin also revealed that the initial estimated loss is assessed to be in excess of $12 million.

Meanwhile, Scotiabank is reminding customers that online and mobile banking may be used to pay bills and transfer funds.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this incident has caused to customers and we will keep the public informed regarding the reopening of the branch once we have been able to assess damages,” the bank said in a brief statement.
