A bankrupt Gov’t?
Dear Editor,
Although it is often said that on life’s journey we must use the past as a reference for where we are, as a people we have a direct responsibility to chart our own course for optimal success.
Governments are no different. When a Government uses the past as the sole reason for their missteps, unforced errors, lack of vision, and downright incompetence, it begs us to ask if we are living under a kakistocracy in which the worst set of people are governing. The indices of a kakistocracy are so evident in all aspect of Government, its agents and agencies.
Sadly, it bleeds my heart to hear the most dastard comments about the the three arms of govermment, which are our executive, legislature, and the judiciary. There is a total breakdown of trust and confidence in all three and a country cannot be successful in such a paradigm.
The blame should be placed squarely at the feet of this Government and rightfully so. They are doing absolutely nothing to earn the trust of the citizens of this country and some of our corrupt media houses are protecting and covering up for them by hiding the truth. Any backlash from the citizens against the actions of the Government is met with distraction and deflection from its members, who would want us to believe that the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is at fault because while Rome burns, the Opposition is pouring gasolene.
This blame-the-Opposition mentality of the Government cannot help and will not help us to reach our 2030 vision, which is now an elusive dream based on the limited progress of the country towards this goal.
As I have always said, this Jamaica Labour Party Government is bankrupt of vision and ideas and has outlived its usefullness.
