Edwin Allen, Hydel impressive in 4x400m heats at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, United States — Former winners Edwin Allen High and defending champions Hydel High look set to battle it out for the high school girls’ 4x400m Championships of Americas title on Friday after impressive runs in Thursday’s preliminaries at the 128th Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Edwin Allen led the qualifiers with 3:41.33 seconds, just ahead of Hydel High who ran 3:41.47 seconds with St Elizabeth Technical also looking good with a 3:43.83 seconds time.

Vere Technical- 3:46.60 seconds and Wolmer’s Girls’- 3:47.47 seconds, also advanced to the final, while former champions Holmwood just missed out after running 3:49.22 seconds for third in their heat.

Bullis School of Potomac, Maryland, Union Catholic of New Jersey as well as Timber Lake of Sicklerville, New Jersey are the American team that could pose a threat to a Jamaican sweep of the top three places in the finals.
