THE Independent Commission of Investigations has begun investigations into the shooting deaths of two males by police last Friday, following the massacre earlier that day of eight residents in the community of Tredegar Park in Spanish Town, St Catherine. The two males were named as 15-year-old Derrick Bolton otherwise known as ‘Craby’ and Rohan ‘Bill Buck’ Dixon. Both are from the Thompson Pen area of Spanish Town.

Police accused the two of being members of the notorious Klansman Gang, and being among 20 gunmen who carried out the attack in Tredegar Park which claimed the lives of four persons each from two families.

Controversial retired senior superintendent Reneto Adams, who visited the murder scene that day, urged police to be more aggressive in confronting gunmen.

“I heard that two (gunmen) have been killed; they had their day in court,” said Adams. “I hope the other three have their days in court; if you want me to be more explicit, have them found and killed,” he said.

Terrence Williams, Commissioner of INDECOM has urged the residents to cooperate with the investigators, as they try to determine the circumstances which led to the deaths of Bolton and Dixon.

In a release today, Williams stated that the investigators are not police personnel. They are employed to INDECOM.

INDECOM formally began operation on Monday. The body which is a commission of Parliament is responsible for investigating actions by members of the Security Forces and other agents of the State that result in death or injury to citizens or the abuse of their human rights.

The Independent Commission of Investigations Act 2010 repealed the Police Public Complaints Act.
