KINGSTON, Jamaica – The National Works Agency (NWA) in a statement Saturday said it has commenced a special work programme that will see several corridors in Kingston and St Andrew being repaved and patched.

Under the program the NWA will be removing the worn asphaltic concrete surface along Marescuax Road; Heroes Circle; Caledonia Avenue, as well as the intersection of Oxford Road and Old Hope Road. The Oxford Road/Knutsford Boulevard intersection will also be done, as well as the section of Mona Road, between the post office and main gate to the University of the West Indies, Mona.

The agency is expected to also do similar work along the westbound lane of the Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway, between the Harbour View round-a-bout and the Cement Company. The eastbound lane between the Rockfort intersection and the Cement Company will also be done.

The NWA said it will also be targeting sections of the Michael Manley Boulevard that lead on to Camp Road.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said that subsequent to the removal of the worn asphalt, all the corridors will be repaved using asphaltic concrete. 

Meanwhile, the following corridors are expected to be patched over the next two weeks: Wellington Drive, Mona Road, Old Hope Road, Lady Musgrave Road, Camp Road, Tom Redcam Drive, Liguanea Avenue, Garden Boulevard, Auther Wint Drive, and East Kings House Road, Shaw said.

Shaw said that NWA will be minimising the impact the road works have on the travelling public by undertaking some of the road work at nights.
