Anchovy’s second-round ambition up in flames
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Anchovy High’s hopes of a place in the second round of the St James Football Association Under-13 went up in flames on Friday after they gave up a half-time lead and lost 2-1 to Pinnacle Academy in their Zone B game at Corinaldi Avenue Primary.
Anchovy Primary needed a win to stay in contention but after the loss, they will end with four points and no hopes of advancing as Pinnacle scored their first win.
Meanwhile, Howard Cooke Primary improved to second place in Zone C after they were awarded full points and three goals after Bickersteth Primary failed to show up for their game.
Howard Cooke are now on six points from three games, two more than Green Pond Primary and St James Prep.
In the first game, D’Andre Lamey gave Anchovy Primary the lead when he scored his second goal of the season in the 17th minute and they held the lead at the break.
Pinnacle Academy, however, got two goals in quick succession, Trishando Smith equalised in the 51st minute and Richard Dobson scored the winner in the 55th minute.
