TUCKER, St James — Defending champions Cavalier FC could close the gap on fourth-place Arnett Gardens if they can beat bottom team Montego Bay United (MBU) in today’s rescheduled, Digicel-powered Jamaica Premier League (JPL) second-round game at Wespow Park in Tucker.

Match time is 3:00 pm.

The game was originally set for last month but had to be pushed back to accommodate Cavalier FC’s participation in the Concacaf Club Championships in the Dominican Republic.

Cavalier FC had won their first-round game at Drax Hall 3-0, the final game that former MBU Head Coach Ricky Hill had overseen for the St James club before throwing in the towel.

Cavalier FC are coming off a 4-1 drubbing of 11th-place Molynes United on Sunday and are on 30 points, six behind Arnett Gardens with two games in hand.

They could find a different MBU team waiting for them as the Leacroft Lettman-conditioned team has shown glimpses of improvement, unbeaten in their last three games during which they scored four of their 12 goals.

MBU gave up a late equaliser against Humble Lion in a 1-1 draw at Wespow Park on Sunday, and Lettman said it was “two points lost” after they thought they had done enough to get back-to-back wins for the first time since their return to the competition.

Frome Technical schoolboy Fabian Forbes had sparked the team when he came off the bench on Sunday, replacing the veteran Dwayne Ambusley, and he could earn a place in the starting team today.

After playing almost 60 minutes on Sunday, Lettman might not be able to call on Ambusley again today, and this could leave a gap in the midfield as well as the leadership that he brought to the inexperienced outfit.
