Champs Reggae Youths hunt third-straight win in Sandals Major League
SPOT VALLEY, St James — Defending champions Reggae Youths will hope to make it three wins from as many starts in the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League on Saturday when they take on Lilliput Rovers at Spot Valley High, starting at 3:30 pm.
Reggae Youths are coming off a 9-1 win over Montego Bay Boys Club last weekend and are in a three-way tie for the lead in the points tables with Heights FC and Cambridge United, both of who have played three games, one more than the champions.
Also today, Wadada United FC will seek to rebound from their opening-game loss to Heights FC when they play Flanker FC at Mt Salem Community Centre.
Reggae Youths have scored 14 goals in their two games and are expected to face their toughest test thus far when they face Lilliput Rovers who are coming off a loss to Cambridge United last weekend.
Shanoy Anderson and Kemar Reid both scored hat-tricks for Reggae Youths last week and will be on the hunt again today against Lilliput Rover who will hope Tyrel Dixon and Mario Leslie will be up to the task today.
Wadada United made a losing return to the Major League after two seasons in the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competition, beaten 4-1 by Heights FC, and will take on a Flanker FC team that is coming off a 4-0 thrashing of Heights FC who had won their first two games.
A win for Flanker FC today could see them in at least second place — and they will hope Dannique Clarke, who got a brace against Heights FC, will continue his scoring run.
