Flankers make it three in a row in St James Under-13 football

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Flankers Primary became the third school to win their first three games in the St James Football Association’s Under-13 competition, after beating Maldon Primary 3-1 in their Zone A game played at Corinaldi Avenue Primary on Friday.

Flankers Primary joined Barracks Road and Catherine Hall as teams to win their first three games in their pursuit of places in the second round.

Gregory Williams scored his seventh goal of the season when he gave Flankers Primary the lead after the 10th minute, Delgado Irving made the score 2-0 after 25 minutes, and Vaughn Wallace scored a third in the 46th minute.

Rohan Dowe scored his second goal of the season when he pulled one back for Maldon in the 55th minute.

In the other game played Friday, Lethe All-Age beat Barrett Town 3-1, with Mark Russell scoring all three goals for the winners by netting in the second, 25th and 47th minutes, while Oshane Myers scored the consolation goal for Barrett Town in the 57th minute.

Chetwood Primary lost their perfect win record on Thursday as they were held 0-0 by Anchovy Primary as they were going after a third-straight win.

Chetwood had beaten Irwin Primary and Pinnacle Prep in their previous two games but found Anchovy hard to break down.

In the other game on Thursday, Irwin Primary scored back-to-back wins after losing their opening game, beating Buckingham Primary 4-0 with two goals from Kavontae Gooden — one in either half in the 25th and 43rd minutes, respectively.

Jerome Meyler added one in the 39th minute and Kemoy Brown added another in the 46th minute.

On Wednesday, Barracks Road Primary joined Catherine Hall Primary on three wins, blanking Green Pond Primary 3-0 in their Zone C game to take a six-point lead over the nearest team.

Ronaldinho Richards scored in his third-straight game to take his tally to five, joint lead with two other players as he gave his team the lead in the 32nd minute of the second half after they were held goalless for the first half.

Shavar Blake scored his fourth of the season in the 35th minute to give Barracks Road a 2-0 lead while Donte Grant added a third in the 47th minute.

St James Prep got their first win after two losses, beating Bickersteth Primary 4-0, with Antoine Rowe scoring two goals in either half while Nareek Crichton and Toshaun Sawyers also got on the scoresheet.

In the only game played Tuesday, Catherine Hall ran their record to three straight wins with a 4-1 victory over Montego Bay Prep.

Ronaldhino Brian scored a brace in the first 13 minutes to give Catherine Hall a good start, and they led 3-0 at half-time and raced to nine points in Zone D — two more than Corinaldi Avenue who they play next.

Brian scored in the second and 13th minutes before Kahleel Campbell made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute.

Lee-Andre Gibbs pulled a goal back for Montego Bay Prep in the 35th minute before Jaheim Rose restored Catherine Hall’s three-goal advantage in the 59th minute.
