Frome, McGrath vie for Ben Francis Cup
FORMER champions Frome Technical and McGrath High are set to clash in the final of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Ben Francis Cup at the National Stadium.
The match is scheduled to start 3:00 pm.
Cleighton Stephens, the head coach of Frome, expressed confidence in his team.
“This is a pretty good feeling for us… we are really excited about playing in this final. My players are ready and raring to go because they have been training very hard for this final,” he added.
Acknowledging the strength of Jermaine Thomas-coached McGrath as an all-round team, Stephens said they won’t be underestimating their opponents.
“Our opponents are in the final and so in order to be in a final you have to be a good team, no matter what — even if it is luck that took you there. We are not going to take them lightly because I know that they have a very good coaching staff and so they will be coming all out for this title. But, we will be ready for whatever they throw at us in this final,” he said.
Christopher Johnson, McGrath’s assistant coach, expressed the team’s eagerness to end the season with a trophy and their determination to bring the title back to St Catherine.
“We are expecting a positive result, and nothing less, because we would have prepared — and we trust our preparations,” said Johnson.
“They [Frome] are a very tough team because if they weren’t, then they wouldn’t have been in the final so we are not going to take any team lightly,” he added.
Confident yet not overconfident, Johnson highlighted the school’s aspiration to bring home silverware to the Linstead community this season.
