TUCKER, St James — Sidelined national player Jourdaine Fletcher is eager to get going in the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL), and says his combination with two other former Reggae Boyz, Brian Brown and Owayne Gordon, for Montego Bay United (MBU) could be lethal.

Fletcher, who is one of several players to sign for the two-time premier league champions, formerly played for Montego Bay fresh out of high school and scored on his debut for the club. He also had a stint with Mount Pleasant FA last season.

Fletcher spoke to the Jamaica Observer during a break in training at WesPow Park on Thursday when the club unveiled seven new players, including three from overseas.

“It’s a great feeling to be back,” said Fletcher who has been training with the St James-based club since ending a stint with Albanian top division team KF Skënderbeu Korçë.

“Training and everything is going well, [I am] just waiting on the competition to restart to execute what we are doing in training.”

He expressed confidence that the additions will add value to the squad.

“The new players coming in will be a big boost to the team and the fans will enjoy what they see anytime we touch on the pitch.”

The footballer, who also played in India with Gokulam Kerala and NEROCA, welcomes the delay to the start of the return round of the JPL. He said that while he brings experience to the team, he is still working on gelling with his new teammates.

“I have experience but [I] don’t have chemistry, but the goals will come”, he said

“Me and Owayne Gordon and Brian Brown upfront will be a dangerous attacking team so you just have to look out for what we will bring. It’s gonna come,” he insisted.

Like his Coach Neider dos Santos, Fletcher is confident MBU will get into the play-offs despite ending the first round in 10th place, six points off the play-off spots.

“Yes, definitely we are looking to get to the top six. We are going to make it to the top six, no doubt about that, because we’re training very hard so top six is possible,” he said.

Montego Bay’s next league outing is against promoted team Lime Hall on Wednesday.
