Manning’s hunt ISSA junior football double
Manning’s School will seek to become the latest team to win the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/Burger King rural area Under-14 and Under-16 double when they take on St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Central High in respective final matches set for Manchester High field this afternoon.
Garvey Maceo High were the last rural area school to win the double, taking the Under-14 and Under-16 titles when they beat Spalding High and Muschett High, respectively, in 2018.
Manning’s will face defending champions STETHS for the Under-14 title in a match set to start at 1:00 pm.
In the Under-16 showdown the Westmoreland-based school is to battle Central High in a scheduled 3:00 pm kick-off.
The finalists were decided after Friday’s semi-finals at Glenmuir High and Llandilo Sports Complex.
Manning’s School first beat Rusea’s High 4-2 on penalty kicks after they played out a 1-1 draw in the Under-14 semi-final, before Jodon Grey scored twice in the Under-16 game to lead them to a 4-1 win over BB Coke High.
STETHS edged Clarendon College 1-0 in their Under-14 semi-final played at Glenmuir High, while Central High beat Manchester High 6-5 on penalties after the teams ended 2-2 in the Under-16 encounter.
