FIRST-TIME entrant Allegiance is poised to open his account in today’s feature, the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup event for maiden two-year-olds over seven furlongs, at Caymanas Park.

Post time for the 10-race programme is 11:00 am.

The Midnight Hawk-Princess Greeta colt, guided by top-flight jockey Tevin Foster and conditioned by former champion trainer Anthony “Baba” Nunes, is well-prepared and expected to comfortably cover the distance.

Allegiance faces stiff competition in the six-horse field, most notably from the Richard Azan-trained Matuso to be ridden by champion jockey Dane Dawkins.

Matuso showed promise in his debut on November 11, finishing third by six lengths over six furlongs, and should therefore challenge for victory.

Another first-time runner Amma, from the barn of Ian Parsard with Reyan Lewis in the saddle, is also poised to feature prominently in the event. The Bern Identity-Blufied filly, a full sister to Blue Vinyl, has undergone effective preparation by Parsard and is considered a strong contender to secure victory in her debut. The other runners in the event include Blu Sensation, Tee Off, and Buttercup.

In the tenth race a competitive field of 11 horses is set to compete in the non-winners of the overnight allowance race over seven furlongs. Rainsville, representing the stables of Richard Azan with jockey Tevin Foster aboard, renews his rivalry with contenders like Morimoto, ridden by Robert Halledeen, and Sunset Silhouette, with Lewis on board. The fast-finishing Rainsville, well-prepared for today’s event, is expected to outperform his rivals this afternoon.
