Sprinter Blake dives into bottled water market with Riviere

FORMER world 100m champion Yohan Blake has expressed his delight after the launch of his Riviere purified water brand on Friday at AC Hotel Kingston.

Blake, who is the owner of Yohan Blake Rehab and Wellness Centre in Kingston, told the Jamaica Observer he is very excited about this new business venture, and is quietly confident that he will receive the support of everyone.

“I am feeling really good about this because me and my business partner have been working assiduously.

“I am not only going to push myself on the track, but push myself on the product to show Jamaica about my bottle of purified water,” Blake said.

“I am feeling very good about this adventure because we are not here to knock out our competitors but we are here to have a presence in the market as well so that people can taste our water and love it as well,” he added.

The 33-year-old Blake, who is a multiple Olympic relay gold medallist, pointed out that his company has partnered with Sharon Burke-led Solid Agency who will be in charge of marketing the product locally.

“It has a unique taste as well and I have a very unique team…these are people who love me as well, and they want to see the water reach far and they are going to push it,” Blake said.

“They will be doing everything in their power to make sure that the water gets out there —and I am very confident in that,” he went on.

Blake is the second-fastest man ever in the 100m, with 9.69 seconds behind his compatriot and former club teammate Usain Bolt (9.58).

He won two silver medals in the 100m and 200m at the London 2012 Olympic Games, both times finishing behind the legendary Bolt.
