Ghana has become the certified end-of-year fashion hub in West Africa, and the final instalment of the Afrochella Festival was a testament to the next-level wardrobe excellence on the continent. Thousands of patrons showed up in their finest threads to celebrate the theme “Afrofuturism” — an ode to the forward-thinking cultural movement and a celebration of the new name of the festival, “Afrofuture” — and festivalgoers certainly did not disappoint. Our SO Global Travel, Culture and Entertainment Writer Tenille Clarke was a specially invited VVIP guest on the scene and witnessed the style greatness in the heart of Accra. With expert advice from UK-born, Trinidad and Tobago-based stylist Crystal Ivy London, Clarke also brought her own Caribbean flavour to the fashion mix at various outings, by wearing some of the region’s top designers — live, direct and in living colour.
