Mom charged for death of pregnant daughter in Michigan
MICHIGAN, United States — Michigan police have charged a woman and her husband with murder after the discovery of her pregnant daughter’s body in the woods, three weeks after she went missing.
A report from the Associated Press details that the 22-year-old victim Rebecca Park was almost to term in her pregnancy when she went missing.
Cortney Bartholomew was Park’s biological mother, but Park was raised by a couple who adopted her and her siblings.
When Rebecca’s body was discovered, the baby had been cut out of her the report indicated an action prosecutor Johanna Carey described as ‘evil personified’.
Forty-year-old Cortney and her husband 47-year-old Brad Bartholomew, were both charged with murder, torture and other crimes.
The prosecutor did not disclose a motive but explained the circumstances of the crime, “Mr Bartholomew brought Rebecca to their home, forced her into another vehicle and took her into the woods where they stabbed her, forced her to lie on the ground while they cut her baby out, ultimately caused her death and the death of the baby,” Carey said.
The couple has been denied bond and appeared in court by video link.
