Girl, 16, found dead
The police in Mandeville, Manchester are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenaged girl, whose body was found with a gunshot wound at a friend’s house in the town Thursday.
She has been identified as Teneisha Francis, 16, of Greenvale District, Mandeville.
The Constabulary Communication Network reported that Francis was found dead at about 2:00 pm at the home of a friend at Cedar Grove Estates in the town. “The friend, who is a licensed firearm holder reportedly placed his firearm, a .38 revolver under a pillow in a room in the basement where he stays. He left Francis in a room upstairs and sent his nephew to a nearby shop to purchase food for her.
“Shortly after the nephew returned with the food and reportedly knocked on the door of the room where Francis was. On getting no response he then reportedly climbed through a window and saw Francis’ body lying in a pool of blood,” the CCN reported.
The licensed firearm holder’s weapon was found beside the body. The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue for post mortem.
Chef stabbed to death
Kevin Clarke, 21, a chef of Irwindale District in St James was stabbed to death during a dispute with another man at Barnett Lane in St James Thursday.
The CCN reported that at about 7:30 pm, Clarke and Everoy Bernard otherwise called “Bibi” were at Barnett Lane when a dispute developed between them. During the argument a knife was used to stab Clarke in the chest. He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died whilst being treated.
Bernard, the police said, fled the scene and is being sought by the Montego Bay Police who are investigating.
Baby’s body found in tank
The body of a newly-born baby boy was found in a tank at Grey Ground district, Manchester on Thursday.
According to the police, at about mid-day a resident of the area was at his farm when he saw a plastic bag in the tank. The bag when retrieved was found to contain the body of the baby.
Firearm seized, man arrested
Obrain Desport, 18, was arrested for breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of an illegal weapon at Piccadilly Road, Kingston 5 Thursday.
The CCN said that about 2:50 pm, a police party was on patrol along Piccadilly Road when Despot, of Phase 7 in Arnett Gardens, was seen riding a bicycle when he was accosted and searched.
A .38 Smith and Wesson revolver, serial # B 80723 with 3 rounds of ammunition was allegedly found in his possession. He was subsequently arrested and charged and is booked to appear in the Corporate Area Gun Court on Monday, September 16.
13 year-old girl killed in accident
A 13-year-old girl was killed after she received injuries in a motor vehicle accident on the Fort Williams main road in Westmoreland yesterday.
She is Latoya Williams of Strawberry Junior High School and Fort Williams district in the parish.
The police reported that at about 7:30 Thursday morning Williams was reportedly crossing the road when she was hit by a Toyota Corolla motor car, registered 0144 DQ.
The police said she was thrown into the other lane of traffic and was hit by a Nissan Bluebird motor car, registered 2171 BJ. She sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
