Carolling with the Jamaican Folk Singers at Mother’s
PATTY company, Mother’s, will bring the spirit of the holiday season into its restaurants in Kingston and Spanish Town with a series of free concerts featuring the Jamaican Folk Singers. In addition, the Jamaican Folk Singers will continue their tradition of visiting senior citizens’ homes, shut-ins, hospitals and a number of communities with the intention of using the healing power of music to bring cheer to many. Mother’s has joined with the group and will provide refreshments for the residents of the senior citizen’s homes where the Jamaican Folk Singers will perform.
For its 2009 Carolling programme, the Jamaican Folk Singers will perform a number of Jamaican carols, including Sing de Chorus, Babe O’Brien’s Run Come Quick, Barry Chevannes’ Holy, Holy, Noel Dexter’s Good News, and Paulette Bellamy’s The Christmas Story. At each concert, the audience is very likely to join in when the group sings the popular Chrismus A Come, arranged by Dr Olive Lewin.
The Jamaican Folk Singers started the holiday season with concerts at Mother’s Liguanea, followed by Half-Way-Tree at Mother’s Park Plaza and Mother’s York Plaza at 6:30 pm.
On Saturday, December 12, the group will entertain customers at Mother’s Portmore and Spanish Town branches at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm respectively.
Downtown will come alive with the songs of the season on Tuesday, December 15 when the Jamaican Folk Singers visit Mother’s South Parade at 5:30 pm; Mother’s North Parade at 6:15 pm and Mother’s at 62 East Queen Street at 7:00 pm.

This is truly consistent with the spirit of the holiday season and we hope that our performances at Mother’s will have this positive impact on the customers there.”
The Jamaican Folk Singers was founded by Dr Olive Lewin and the group has been exposing Jamaicans to the beauty and artistic worth of Jamaica’s folk music heritage for over 40 years. Mother’s has operated 18 restaurants across Jamaica for 27 years.
