Sagicor, PanCaribbean cops best practices awards

Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited and its subsidiary, Pan Caribbean Financial Services Limited (PCFS) took the top awards at the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s Best Practices Awards 2008 Tuesday night at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

The Sagicor Group’s performance is a repeat of last year’s achievement when PanCaribbean received first place for Best Practice Annual Report and the Governor General’s Award for Overall Performance and Sagicor Life earned the PSOJ’s award for Corporate Governance. Both companies bettered the prior year’s showing in other categories.

“We are very happy with the recognition that we have received this year,” said the group’s vice president, group marketing, Tanya Miller, “Our team is committed to excellence and we strive daily to identify ways of improving how we do business. Last year, when we won in the same three categories, we took time to reflect on how we could secure this position going forward, not for the recognition, but for the underlying benefit to our stakeholders.”

The group also improved its ranking in two other categories: PanCaribbean moved into second place for Best Practice Investor Relations and Sagicor Life ranked third for Best Annual Report.
